You have never done a martial art. You are not in fight shape. You wonder if you will get destroyed. None of that matters — our beginner track is built precisely for you. Coach Kantharaj has personally taken dozens of zero-experience members to competent amateur fighters.

What your first month looks like

Week 1: stance, guard, falling safely (breakfalls), getting comfortable on the mat

Week 2: the jab + basic kicks (front kick, low kick). Wrestling stance. Sprawling

Week 3: light grappling positions (side control, mount, guard). Escapes

Week 4: connecting it — punch entry, takedown finish, top control. No live sparring yet

Conditioning built in — you will leave every session sweating but never broken

What we never do to beginners

No live sparring in your first month. Period.

No "trial by combat" — you will not be thrown to a hard partner to "see if you can take it"

No "earn your stripes" hazing — every member is here to learn, not prove themselves

No public ego classes — coach intervenes immediately if a senior partner gets aggressive

No pretending you do not exist — Coach K knows every member's name and progress

Frequently asked

Common questions.

I have zero martial arts background. Is that a problem?+

No — it is actually preferred. People with prior bad habits often take longer to unlearn than complete beginners take to learn properly. Most members start at zero.

Am I going to get hurt?+

No. Beginner classes have zero live sparring. You drill positions, learn movement patterns, and do situational sparring only when the coach decides you are ready — usually 3–6 months in.

I am out of shape. Should I get fit first?+

No. Train and you will get fit. Beginner-track sessions are paced so anyone can complete them. We have members in their 40s who started here completely deconditioned.

How often should I train?+

2–3 sessions a week is the sweet spot for beginners. Enough to build skill, not so much you burn out. As you progress you may want more.

What is the difference between MMA and boxing / BJJ classes here?+

MMA is the integration — striking + grappling + ground all in one programme, with transitions. Boxing or BJJ alone only teach one range. You can train MMA from day one, or build a base in boxing or wrestling first and layer in the rest. Many members do both.
